A beautiful silver denarius of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar under Antoninus Pius. Struck in Rome in AD 159-160. The obverse has a wonderful portrait of Marcus Aurelius aged 38. Known as the last of the "Five Good Emperors" as well as a writer and philosopher, his 'Meditations' are regarded by some as being amongst the greatest works of Western Philosophy. Sharp detail with attractive toning.
